Diamond Preview 2021: Lumpkin County

No matter what seems to happen, Lumpkin County’s softball program reloads very well to the tune of 5 straight playoff runs and 8 times in the last 9 years overall. The Lady Indians have over 100 wins in Joseph Jones’ tenure as head coach. Look for his team to do what it always does…compete.
Head Coach: Joseph Jones, 8th season
2020 Record: 19-10; State Sweet 16; #8 State Ranking

Personnel
Key Departures: Lauren English
Key Returning Players: Emmie Graham, Amma Johnson
Lumpkin sees its top player, Lauren English, depart. That’s huge. However, players like Emmie Graham and Amma Johnson will step up as seniors, and bring others along with them.
Strengths & Areas of Focus
Strengths: Winning culture/tradition. This program is more than familiar with play with an attitude of “next man up” despite whatever turnover occurs.
Focusing On: Staying within themselves. The pressure to continue a playoff streak like it has can be hard…however, the girls must focus on the old cliché of “one game at a time” and not get ahead of themselves.
