JUNE 5, 2023 – COMMITTED to CLEMSON!

BIO INFO

Sammy Brown
Jefferson Dragons LB/RB #1

Class of 2024
5* Recruit (#1 ILB in Class of 2024)

.993 247Sports Composite Rating
6’2 – 230 lbs

Perhaps the best overall athlete we’ve seen – his prowess is on full display on the football field of course, but also on the wrestling mat and on the track. On the gridiron, Brown changes the game by just being on the field. Teams run plays to avoid him, yet he still has a motor that drives him quickly to the ball. He has exceptional field vision, and offensively is a bulldozer and downhill runner. He has high-quality character as well! -Brian Carter, BLITZ

VIDEOS & HIGHLIGHTS

FRESHMAN SEASON (2020)

While at Commerce with his dad Mike Brown head coach of the Tigers, Sammy Brown burst on the scene as a young freshman who was playing like a man among boys. He seemingly couldn’t be stopped, rushing for 1,368 yards and 14 TD (10.3 YPC). He also played a part in the passing game, catching 4 TD passes and racking up 181 yards. Defensively, he had 44 tackles and had 194 kick/punt return yards with another TD. He was named a MaxPreps All-American and MaxPreps, AJC, GHSF Dailey, and Recruit GA All-State selection.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2021)

It was shocking to all when the Brown family moved to Jefferson after the 2020 season. Sammy Brown was inserted into Gene Cathcart’s program that had just played in the state championship in 2020. The Dragons utilized Brown very well, and in his first game he rumbled for a 78-yd TD against #1-ranked Rabun County that would set the tone. Throughout the season, he rushed for 753 yards and 11 TD while averaging 13 yards per tote. He added a special teams and a defensive TD, and was a force at linebacker. Unfortunately, he missed several weeks due to a knee injury that kept him out of the first round playoff loss as well. Again, he was named All-State by AJC, GHSF Dailey, and Recruit GA.

JUNIOR SEASON (2022)

Brown’s junior season was remarkable. Despite the Dragons dealing with the tragic murder of star receiver Elijah DeWitt, Brown rallied his team to a region title as Jefferson improved weekly throughout the season. Brown racked up 113 tackles and 7 for loss, and had 1,459 rushing yards and 21 TD while going for 8.1 yards per carry. He also became a big feature in the receiving game with 246 yards and 3 TD. Brown was named an All-American by MaxPreps, and was All-State for MaxPreps, AJC, GHSF Daily, and Recruit GA. Brown earned Region Player of the Year honors for 8-AAAAA, and earned an invite to the 2024 Under Armour All-American Bowl.

SENIOR YEAR (2023)

In the season-opener of Brown’s senior campaign, he put on a clinic with multiple chase-down tackles, deflecting a pass (a near strip stack), a 4th & short stop in the red zone, and went for 90 yards rushing with 4 TDs. It was just the beginning of a record-setting season for Brown. He regularly put up 100-yd, multi-TD, and 10-plus tackle performances. He rushed for 188 yards and 4 TDs against Oconee County, went for 228 against Flowery Branch, and had 4 straight games with 3-plus TDs: Loganville (123 yds, 3 TD, 1 rec TD); Heritage (121 yds, 3 TD, 1 rec TD); Eastside (181 yds, 3 TD); Jackson in RND 1 (92 yds, 3 TD, 1 rec TD). 2023 took on another level for Brown, who put up new career-highs with 2,289 rushing yards and 36 TD, both surfacing in the record books. The latter ranked 27th-best in state history at the time, and the former 44th-most in a single season. He added 202 receiving yards and 4 TD, and even threw for 71 yards and 2 TD. That gave him 42 total scores as a senior, and 98 for his career (82 rushing, 11 receiving, 2 passing, 3 defense/special teams). Brown was a 4-time All-American and All-State selection, winning 15 BLITZ Player of the Week awards, and finished 21st all-time in Georgia in rushing TDs in a career. Brown had 4 4-rushing TD games as a senior. Of his numerous special outings was a 5-TD game in the second round against Hiram in which he rushed for 354 yds and 4 TD and threw for a 9-yd TD. He also had 3 200-plus yard performances. While all this is incredible, he also finished with 153 tackles that season and 345 for his career. His career totals are 5,869 rushing yards and 82 TD, and 641 receiving yards and 11 TD. Brown was once again a MaxPreps All-American, but was also honored with the Butkus Award (HS) for 2023, GPB Player of the Year, and BLITZ Player of the Year! Finally, he was named National High School Coaches Association Player of the Year.
