FAQ/CONTACT

Over the past 15 years, we’ve learned some of the common questions. BEFORE you send an email, please see if your question is listed below.

How do Player of the Week and Player of the Year nominees get selected?

These come from head coaches. We send an email to every single local coach every single week through a team’s season for a request for nominees for POW. Coaches send in their nominees, and the same goes for POY nominees. On a case-by-case basis, or typically football, access to public stats makes it possible for BLITZ to nominate players. Parents and players cannot send in nominations. We will point you to contact your team’s coach to see if they would like to.

I’m having voting problems where my votes are not being counted for a BLITZ poll. What do I do?

This is 100% always due to your device. It is not a BLITZ issue. When you vote frequently, your cache/cookies will get full on your computer/phone/device. You must go in and clear them off. We have a very well laid out step-by-step for voting issues. This always fixes the problem, INCLUDING the last step. Please do not email that you tried everything when you didn’t try the last step. There is a cooldown trigger on the polls if you vote a ton in a short window of time. A break in voting will correct that.

I feel like someone is cheating in the Fan Vote polls. What do I do?

Please DO NOT send me emails of accusations of someone cheating or a poll being rigged. We pay for voting software, and then pay EXTRA to have a built-in BOT blocker. The system recognizes voting BOTS and kicks those votes out, AND even flags any suspicious IP addresses that may or may not be illegal votes. Only TWO TIMES in 8 years has a BOT wriggled through, and those votes were flagged on the back end and we were able to remove them from the results. If you do email about someone cheating, you will need to be very transparent about who you are voting for and who you are accusing. I take allegations against another school/team seriously, as you would if someone accused you of something unethical. But please know, only TWO TIMES in 8 years was there actually a BOT that got through, with the usual complaint being that they just don’t think someone could have ‘that many votes’. It’s unlimited voting, and some teams, players, and families LOVE to vote til their fingers go numb.

Why is there a Fan Vote for POW and also a BLITZ Pick, and how does that work?

The way this works is: nominees are up for a fan vote. When making the poll, we go ahead and select the top 2 choices for BLITZ Pick. If the top pick ends up being the Fan Vote winner, we will go with our 2nd choice as BLITZ Pick. If the Fan Vote goes to someone other than our top choice, we name our top choice as BLITZ Pick. It’s a win-win. The fans/schools/players all have a chance to win the fan vote, and we choose another not based on voting results at all. We had hundreds of people for years ask about having a fan vote for people to choose a player of the week. We started that around 2016-17, while maintaining our discretion to pick our top athlete each week too.

Which schools are included in BLITZ coverage?

As of 2023-24, the schools in our coverage area are, in alpha order, Banks County, Commerce, Dawson County, Habersham Central, Jefferson, Lumpkin County, Rabun County, Stephens County, Tallulah Falls, Towns County, Union County, and White County. 12 schools, all varsity programs.

We started in 2009 with just Habersham, Lumpkin, Dawson, and White. Towns and Union were added in 2010. Banks and Tallulah Falls were added in 2011. Tallulah dropped the next year before adding again in 2016. Commerce was added in 2012. Rabun was added in 2013. Stephens was added in 2016. Jefferson was added in 2018.

How do I get my school added to the coverage area?

Adding each school is a tremendous undertaking, as it means providing coverage for roughly 20 varsity sports teams. That said, local advertising is what makes it possible. We have tried many times to get East Jackson, Jackson County, and Franklin County in the coverage area. To pursue it, we need a local business in that area to step up and advertise to make it possible. HOW TO ADVERTISE

Unfortunately, we live in a time where many people love to complain. The amount of weekly emails and messages over the years with rude, unprofessional, and pointed remarks that attack my character is vast, and will no longer even be entertained with a response other than a link back to this page. I have spent 15 years working untold hours and days to give the local high school sports teams, coaches, fans, and community coverage they deserve. I can’t always be perfect or always get it right for every person, but there is no bias, ill intent, or advantage I get from any one team, player, or school to win something over another. I sacrifice countless hours away from my family to do what I do because I love to spotlight the players, teams, and schools. I will defend my character and integrity. Any threats against me or my family will be turned in to authorities or school administration.
