Rabun County went into Dawsonville and left 35–21 winners in a game they never trailed. Dawson County (0-3) and former Rabun coach Jaybo Shaw have yet to hold a lead in a game this season, and came up short in their bid for a victory.

The Wildcats (2-0) got a quick interception by Ashton Justus that set up a short field. Rabun capitalized, as JK Fruster scored on a 1-yd tote for the game’s first score. 

Dawson County responded immediately, as Brody Sorensen aired it out to Gunnar Weaver for a 75-yd TD less than a minute later to knot the game. 

Fruster found the end zone on a 2-yd plunge later in the quarter, reclaiming the lead momentarily for the Cats. The Tigers clawed back into it, as a drive that bled into the second quarter ended with an 8-yd TD run by Sorensen to again tie the game. 

Most of the second was a stalemate, though the Tigers narrowly missed a field goal that would have given them their first lead of the season. It remained tied going into the break. 

The Wildcats reeled off a lengthy drive to open the third, and capped it with a 6-yd TD pass from Cooper Kowalsky to Hayden Cannon for the 21-14 lead. 

Near the end of the third, Rabun doubled up on Dawson when Justus scored on a 4-yd TD, pushing the lead to 28-14. Fruster found the end zone for a third time on a 2-yd touchdown midway through the fourth as Rabun County pulled ahead 35-14. 

The Wildcats would run down the clock in the final minutes to secure the win, moving to 2–0 on the season. Dawson County continues to seek its first win.
