5-STAR Gunner Stockton down to final two schools in recruiting process
A long-anticipated decision for Gunner Stockton of Rabun County on where he will play college ball still awaits, but we may be inching closer to the finish line. As the 5-star QB in the Class of 2022, who was recently named an All-American by Maxpreps, enters his junior year, he has narrowed his list down to the final two – The University of Georgia and the University of South Carolina.
The rising junior led the Wildcats to a sixth straight region championship in 8-AA, and a fifth consecutive quarterfinal-or-deeper playoff run. He passed for 3,473 yards and 43 TD this year, completing 239 of his 334 pass attempts (72%), and rushed for 1,126 yards and 19 scores.
Stockton announced via Twitter on Thursday his decision on the two schools:
“Want to thank my family, my teammates, my coaches and every school that has recruited me for the last two years. With that being said I am down to my final two schools, so I can focus on my junior season at Rabun County,” says Stockton. “Please no interviews at this time. Thank you and God Bless!”
All told, he collected 4,599 yards and 62 TD, bringing his career totals to 8,225 yards of offense and 113 touchdowns. He has thrown for 6,390 yards already and 77 TD, and rushed for 1,835 and 36.
Stockton held 26 offers, including from programs such as Alabama, UGA, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida, South Carolina, and many other top-tier football programs.
