Four football standouts were named BLITZ Players of the Week. That list includes Savion Anderson (White County), Joseph Alvarez (Lumpkin County), Carson Cheek (Franklin County), and Carter Perrin (Jefferson). Anderson wins the Fan Vote after taking 6,901 of the 16,653 total votes. The others were BLITZ Picks.

SAVION ANDERSON – WHITE COUNTY

Savion Anderson didn’t flood the box score by any means. He had a solid line, however of 53 rush yards and a TD with a 13-yd TD catch as well. His TDs were timely though. The first brought White County out of a 14-0 hole. The second was a walk-off touchdown in overtime to give the Warriors a 2-0 start to the season.

JOSEPH ALVAREZ – LUMPKIN COUNTY

Lumpkin County has had several special running backs (Mason Sullens ’24, Nolan Matthews ’26, Zach Matthews ’17). Still, none of those bell-cow backs did what Joseph Alvarez did in his second career start. The junior rushed for a school-record 318 yards, and three times found his way into the end zone. He averaged a ridiculous 10.3 yards per tote.

CARSON CHEEK – FRANKLIN COUNTY

Speaking of running backs, Franklin County’s Carson Cheek has long had to share totes with several others. That still is the case, but the senior made the most of his opportunities in Lions’ win in Week Two. He rushed for 265 yards and FIVE touchdowns in an unforgettable performance, and averaged 16.6 yards per carry.

Crystal Award

For those who really want to showcase a BLITZ award, you can order a Crystal Trophy for Player of the Year, Hall of Fame, or even Player of the Week if you’d like.

CARTER PERRIN – JEFFERSON

Jefferson WR/DB Carter Perrin had a special night in the Dragons’ victory. The junior had four catches for 41 yards and a TD. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. He also had a 78-yd kickoff return for a TD. AND for good measure, a 45-yd pick six on defense.
