SETH RUTAN – UNION COUNTY

Seth Rutan is a wrecking ball on defense. The senior linebacker has had Union County’s defense playing at a high level. Rutan had 49 tackles and 10 TFL through the first 4 weeks for the Panthers, and had a fumble recovery and a pair of forced fumbles as well. This is Rutan’s second time winning Defensive Player of the Month, as he won it in 2022 as well.

SAMMY BROWN – JEFFERSON

The nation’s top linebacker and one of the top overall recruits is playing like it. Sammy Brown, the 5-star Clemson commit, has dominated opposing offenses (and defenses with what he does on the other side of the ball). Brown tallied 43 tackles, 3 TFL, an interception, sack, and PBU in the newly #1-ranked Dragons first 4 contests. The defense has held others to 11.3 points per game, good for the 4th-best defense in Class 5A. What makes Brown’s numbers even more impressive is that teams TRY to run plays away from him, yet he still gets there. This is Brown’s 11th career BLITZ award.
