Teammates Gibson, Stover earn Player of the Week honors

BLITZ has named a pair of senior Rabun County teammates Football Player of the Week after the Wildcats had a blowout win to reach the Quarterfinals.

JADEN GIBSON – RABUN COUNTY

Jaden Gibson came up with his sixth career 200-yard receiving game in the Round Two win over Social Circle. The senior wideout, who is a 3-star recruit, had 10 catches for 201 yards and 2 TDs, and added a 3-yd TD rushing as well. His 2 TD catches put him at 28 receiving TD on the year, tying the state single-season record shared now with prior Rabun WR Adriel Clark (who also had 28 in 2020). Gibson, the state’s all-time receiving yardage and receiving TD leader, now has 5,045 career receiving yards and 58 receiving TD, and has 61 total TD. This is Gibson’s third POW award of the season, and 8th of his career.

KEEGAN STOVER – RABUN COUNTY

Keegan Stover rebounded from one of his most difficult games to having one of his best. After being replaced in the first round win over Dade County while struggling to a non-typical night, the senior QB had it all going in the second round. He completed 17-of-23 passes for a 74% completion rate. He threw for 352 yards and 4 TD in the win for the #2 Wildcats. For his career, Stover now has 7,292 passing yards and 85 TD (19th in state history). He has 89 total TD counting his rushing ones. This is Stover’s third BLITZ POW award, and he now has 40 TD passes on the year (31st in state history) and 3,404 yards (34th).
