Sophomore standouts named Runners of the Week

The BLITZ Cross Country Runner of the Week Fan Vote saw 4,190 votes cast for local players. The Fan Vote winner was Wyatt Windham (Lumpkin) with 3,086 votes, while BLITZ then named Audrey Hotard (Habersham Central) as co-ROW.

WYATT WINDHAM – LUMPKIN COUNTY

Sophomore Wyatt Windham had a solid freshman season, so it’s not much of a surprise to see him make bigger strides early on as a sophomore. His season debut for Lumpkin saw him run a 17:14, good for 19th place at the Pickens Preview out of 214 runners. It marked a PR for him, beating his previous-best time of 17:41 last season. This is Windham’s first POW award.

AUDREY HOTARD – HABERSHAM CENTRAL

Audrey Hotard is picking up right where she left off…the sophomore sensation ran a 20:03.76 in Habersham’s season-opening meet at Apalachee. Hotard, the reiging region champion, was 36 seconds ahead of the second-place runner in an event that featured 90 harriers. Though her run was fantastic, her PR remains a 19:31.30 she ran last season. This is already Hotard’s fourth POW award of her career.
