Shockley, Gibson named Players of the Week after historic performances

The BLITZ Fan Vote for Football Player of the Week saw 6,927 votes come in, with Andrew Shockley (Banks) taking the most at 2,306. BLITZ then named Jaden Gibson (Rabun) as Co-POW.
ANDREW SHOCKLEY – BANKS COUNTY

What a historic performance for Andrew Shockley. The Banks County running back racked up 398 rushing yards on 31 attempts, good for 12.8 yards per tote against Johnson. The Leopards’ standout found the end zone SIX times in the 41-20 win, meaning he accounted for all of the scores for Banks County in Week One. This is Shockley’s second POW award, as he won one last season as well.

JADEN GIBSON – RABUN COUNTY

Jaden Gibson went OFF in Week One. Keep in mind it wasn’t against some scrub team. The Wildcats were playing #10-ranked Haralson and on the road to boot. The senior wideout and Georgia Southern commit averaged 34.1 yards per reception, hauling in 8 passes for a personal record 273 yards. He had 4 TD, and two of them went for 85 yards. He did all that damage in just 2.5 quarters of play. His yards marked the ninth most in a single game in state history, and he continues to be on pace to break the all-time career yardage and TD records in Georgia in receiving. This is Gibson’s sixth POW award.
