Senior trio earns Player of the Week honors


The BLITZ Softball Player of the Week Fan Vote saw 15,582 votes cast for local players. The Fan Vote winner was Habersham Central’s Emma Forester with 7,515 votes, while BLITZ then named both Natalie Shubert (Lumpkin) and Taylor Spivey (Jefferson) as co-POWs.
EMMA FORESTER – HABERSHAM CENTRAL

Emma Forester earns her first-ever POW award after a solid outing against powerhouse White County. The Lady Raiders senior pitcher came up with the clutch 2-out RBI single in a 5-3 win, and earned the victory in the circle with a complete game effort. Forester went the distance with 7 innings pitched, giving up three runs and striking out four batters.

NATALIE SHUBERT – LUMPKIN COUNTY

Natalie Shubert had a stellar week both at the plate and in the circle last week. The senior pitcher and catcher led Lumpkin County by going 5-for-7 at the plate, good for a .714 batting average. She drove in six runs and notched a double. She was arguably more dominant in the circle, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts across 11 innings of work. This is Shubert’s first POW award.

TAYLOR SPIVEY – JEFFERSON

Senior Taylor Spivey came up HUGE with a walkoff hit against Oconee County for the Lady Dragons last week. That was just part of her great effort, as the firstbaseman hit .667 (4-for-6), including three RBIs. Spivey earns her second career POW award.
