Diamond Preview 2022: Rabun County

The Rabun County softball team turns the page with new head coach Wes Satterfield, who has been heading up the baseball program as well. Though the Lady Cats accumulated four wins last season, they made the playoffs in a small region. It marked the third straight season for Rabun County in the postseason.
Head Coach: Wes Satterfield, 1st season
2021 Record: 4-15, State Rnd 1
Despite losing a pair of talented seniors in Birdie Jordan and Courtney Stewart, any softball/baseball team would LOVE to have experienced leaders up the middle, as those positions are often the leaders on the field. That’s the case for Satterfield’s 2022 team, which brings back its catcher, shortstop, and center fielder.

Personnel
Key Departures: Birdie Jordan, Courtney Stewart
The duo of Jordan and Stewart were mainstays for the Lady Cats for several years. Their leadership will not easily be replaced.
Key Returning Players: Mary Lovell, Christina Keller, Mili Watts, Chloe Erlewine
According to Satterfield, these are players that will lead the charge in 2022.
Strengths & Areas of Focus
Strengths: “Our strengths are going to be up the middle,” says Satterfield. “We return our shortstop, catcher, and center fielder.”
Focusing On: “We are focused on making the routine plays, reducing the amount of free bases, and playing with intensity,” adds Satterfield.

So proud of Wesley Satterfield and all he’s accomplished. This team is going to be hard to beat.
