Juniors Lightbourne, Jackson tabbed Girls Hoops POWs


The BLITZ Girls Basketball Player of the Week Fan Vote collected 11,244 total votes, with Tallulah Falls’ Denika Lightbourne taking 6,626 to win the POW Fan Vote. BLITZ then named Kate Jackson (Lumpkin County) Co-POW.
DENIKA LIGHTBOURNE – FAN VOTE

Denika Lightbourne had a game last week for the #9-ranked Lady Indians. The junior do-it-all talent dropped in 16 points as part of a double-double that included 11 boards. She had a near triple-double by adding 7 assists, and tallied 4 steals, 7 deflections, and a block. Lightbourne recently surpassed 900 career points, and has a chance to hit 1,000 if TFS plays long enough in the postseason. This is her 2nd POW award this season and 5th of her career.

KATE JACKSON – BLITZ PICK

#1 Lady Indians’ start power forward Kate Jackson is having a great comeback season after missing all of 2020-21. The junior averaged 15.5 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists over a 2-game stretch for Lumpkin last week. She claims her 2nd POW award of the season and 3rd of her career.
