Charlton, McKay named Basketball Players of the Week

The BLITZ Basketball combined boys/girls Player of the Week Fan Vote collected 7,108 total votes, with Tallulah Falls’ Veronaye Charlton taking 2,823 to win the POW Fan Vote. BLITZ then named Connor McKay (Rabun County) Co-POW.

Tallulah Falls’ standout guard Veronaye Charlton is picking up right where she left off. The junior averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game over the first two games (including a scrimmage) for TFS. This is Charlton’s second-ever POW award.

Connor McKay is one of the early favorites for BLITZ Player of the Year. With the talent he has, and barring any injuries, he should put up ridiculous numbers this season. The senior guard, who recently committed to Lander University, dropped 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in his season-opening game for the Wildcats. He added 2 blocks and drilled 4 triples. This is McKay’s 6th career POW award, making him one of only 9 athletes in BLITZ history to capture this many weekly awards.
