The Biggest Upset – West Hall 31-14 over Lumpkin
Dawson County Tigers 26, North Hall Trojans 8
The Tigers shut down Kevin Rochester and forced the Trojans to go to the air attack. Meanwhile, Zach Holtzclaw and Braedon Hubbard hooked up for a pair of 70-plus yard TDs, and Conley Dyer had a rushing score. The defense was spectacular, led by AJ Moore, who sealed the win with a late safety. The Tigers claimed the region runner-up finish and earned a home playoff game.
#2 Jefferson Dragons 49, Madison County Red Raiders 6
Malaki Starks is back! He had a monster game, scoring a pair of TD runs early to give the Dragons a 14-0 lead. After a Jordan Perry TD run in the second, Starks had a pick six on defense to push the lead up to 28-0 over Madison County. Kadin Bailey had a 50-yard TD run, and Reese Johnson added another to make it 42-0 going into the half. Chase Johnson had a 75-yard KO return for a TD late to capitalize the win.
#6 Cherokee Bluff Bears 30, White County Warriors 0
After the Bears went up 14-0 in the first half, Cherokee Bluff pulled away in the second half on the way to a blowout 30-0 win in Cleveland.
Shiloh Generals 43, Habersham Central Raiders 28
The Raiders came up short in their season finale, falling 43-28 to close the season against Shiloh.
Elbert County Blue Devils 20, Banks County Leopards 18
Elbert County edged out Banks County 20-18 in a game that was much closer than most people anticipated. The Leopards fought hard all the way down to the wire.
Washington-Wilkes Tigers 49, Towns County Indians 32
The Indians dropped a 5th straight game to close their season, despite the offense racking up another 32 points.
Lincoln County Red Devils 35, Commerce Tigers 6
Lincoln County was able to hold Commerce in check throughout, as the Tigers recorded just 6 points in a region title tilt. Commerce takes the fourth spot in the region, which means it will have to travel throughout the playoffs.
Union County Panthers 49, Gilmer Bobcats 48
The Panthers won a thriller on senior night in Blairsville, securing a win heading into the playoffs. Gilmer gave Union all it could handle, but the Panthers edged out a thrilling 49-48 victory.
Stephens County Indians 24, East Jackson Eagles 0
The Indians left it all on the field in a 24-0 win over East Jackson, nailing down the fourth playoff spot out of 8-AAA.
West Hall Spartans 31, Lumpkin County Indians 14
Cooper Scott’s first quarter TD had Lumpkin holding a slim 8-7 lead on West Hall, but the Spartans pulled away to a 21-8 lead into the half. Scott had an 8-yard TD run midway through the fourth to pull within 31-14, which was the final.
