Ryoul, Moore named HEMC Linemen Of The Week

Jefferson’s Dylan Ryoul (OL) and Dawson County’s AJ Moore (DL) have been named the Habersham EMC Linemen of the Week by BLITZ.

Jefferson senior center Dylan Ryoul had a championship grade against Chestatee for the Dragons. He led the OL to paving the way for 313 yards of offense and 10.5 yards per play. He recorded 2 pancake blocks in the win. This is his third career POW award.

“The first thing I have always told the group on Day 1 of Spring Practice is that we (as a team) will live or die on the play of the OL,” says Jefferson line coach Michael Brown. “Everything in this offense starts with the guys up front and so it is essential to build a certain  ‘esprit de corps’ among all the members of the group. We have three things that we hang our hats on in regard to building the OL, and Pride in the unit and their performance.”

Those 3 things, according to Brown are:

1. “Work Ethic…’The Chutes’…we do 90% of all our drills from the chutes which are set at waist height to ensure low pad level,” says Brown. “It is our home and where we develop our fundamentals and our skills. There is a certain ‘blue collar’ work ethic that we want the OL to own when we enter the chutes. We create our identity as a unit in the Chutes!”

2. “Mentorship… we want our guys coaching each other! We want to see our guys invest in each other, develop one another and encourage one another.”

3. “Fellowship… Coach Stephenson and I will have the OL over to eat at our homes once a month (as a matter of fact we are doing this this week). Dylan is a great example of what we hope to produce as a player and as a young man. Great worker, mentor for the young guys, and solid every Friday Night!”

Other OL Standouts – Bear Old (Rabun SR OL #78 – Championship grade); JD Trowell (White JR LT #56 – 92% grade, 6 pancake blocks); Lambdin Hardy (Commerce SR OL #70 – 400 yds offense)
