Crystal Ball: Week 10 Predictions

Week Ten is here. Officially in the sunset of the 2020 regular season.

DISCLAIMER: We dissect the numbers, check against other projections, utilize the brain and not the heart. If we pick against any of our beloved 11 programs, take it as a diss if you want, or use it as motivation. We obviously would love to see all 11 programs win every single game, so we’ll celebrate even if we’re wrong if it means our locals walk off the field as winners.

THE LOCALS

Dawson County vs #9 Cherokee Bluff

The Tigers are riding a 4-game win streak going into a huge showdown against undefeated Cherokee Bluff. This game will see the winner have the inside track to the region title game against North Hall. Since the three are all unbeaten in region, and North Hall off in Week 10, the Trojans will sit back and watch. If Dawson wins, they would likely still have to beat North Hall in the season finale to claim the region. If Cherokee Bluff wins, it will need to also beat North Hall next week. A lot at stake here. We like Dawson with the way they’ve been playing. VERDICT: DAWSON COUNTY

#1 Jefferson vs Chestatee (Thursday)

The Dragons are playing Chestatee in a rare Thursday night game. Chestatee is winless in 2020, and this game will likely be a quick one for Jefferson. VERDICT: JEFFERSON

Habersham Central vs Central Gwinnett (moved to November 17)

The Raiders are coming off an emotional, monumental win over #9 Lanier. Central Gwinnett limped in at 1-6 overall. For Habersham, a win and they’re in for the playoffs. Too bad it was announced by Central Gwinnett on Thursday morning that their game change features the Raiders game coming on a Tuesday night on November 17…just days before the first round of the state playoffs. VERDICT: HABERSHAM CENTRAL

White County vs Lumpkin County

The Warriors are 1-2 in region, and should even the record when hosting the Indians. The question remains if J Ben Haynes makes his return after missing the last 2 games due to injury. VERDICT: WHITE COUNTY

Stephens County vs Hart County (Canceled due to COVID)

Stephens County was set to play host to Hart County. Unfortunately, a positive COVID case on the coaching staff and another on the team meant the game was canceled. For what it’s worth, we had made a pick already VERDICT: STEPHENS COUNTY

#1 Rabun County @ Elbert County

Rabun travels to the Granite Bowl for a defacto region title game against Elbert County. A win for the Cats equals SEVEN straight region championships. VERDICT: RABUN COUNTY

#3 Commerce @ Social Circle

Commerce got a well-earned bye week to gear up for this final stretch, beginning with Social Circle. The last two are against Washington-Wilkes and Lincoln County, which will be the games that determine the region. But this one should be an easy W for the Tigers. VERDICT: COMMERCE

Union County vs Rabun Gap (Thursday)

Union plays Thursday at Rabun Gap, and will be looking to get back on the winning track after dropping last week’s game to Elbert. The Panthers have a good shot to win here. VERDICT: UNION COUNTY

Towns County @ Greene County

Towns County looks to grab a win for the first time since September 18. It comes with a long bus ride, and won’t be easy….but it’s possible. VERDICT: TOWNS COUNTY

THE OTHERS

Predicted winners are in bold

#5 Flowery Branch vs Madison County

West Hall vs Gilmer
Denmark vs South Forsyth
