POW Trio: QB Duo Combine for 14 TD, Safety Records 19 Tackles

The Player of the Week Fan Vote notched 33,241 votes, with Habersham Central’s Patrick Tedder (16,120) taking the top spot. BLITZ then picked both Gunner Stockton (Rabun) and Zach Holtzclaw (Dawson) as Co-POW. For what it’s worth, Dawson’s Dakohta Sonnichsen (12,177) piled up some votes as well, but came in second.

ZACH HOLTZCLAW – BLITZ PICK

Dawson junior QB Zach Holtzclaw threw for a career-best 6 TD in a critical region-opening win over #5-ranked White County. The Tigers’ gunslinger tallied 342 passing yards and completed 60% of his passes (21-for-35). Holtzclaw was unfazed by a constant downpour during the contest. In a game in which nearly every team would resort to the run game, Holtzclaw didn’t let the rain become an excuse. His 77-yd TD pass to Jaden Gibson in the final minutes proved the game-winner in a 42-35 win.
This is Holtzclaw’s second POW award of his career. To date, he has 3,699 passing yards and 40 TD in his career. This season, he has passed for 1,327 to go with 17 TD against 4 interceptions.
