Crystal Ball: Week 4 Predictions

We shot 80% on our predictions from last week, and are now around 77% for the season. Room to improve, so here are our predictions for Week 4.

DISCLAIMER: We dissect the numbers, check against other projections, utilize the brain and not the heart. If we pick against any of our beloved 11 programs, take it as a diss if you want, or use it as motivation. We obviously would love to see all 11 programs win every single game, so we’ll celebrate even if we’re wrong if it means our locals walk off the field as winners.

Habersham Central vs #5 White County

This should be an intense night of football. Both teams come in unbeaten, and the #5 Warriors (3-0) are looking to do something they haven’t done since the 1970s, that is go to 4-0. The Raiders (2-0) ground game will put pressure on the front line of defense and the second level for the Warriors. Meanwhile, the Warriors’ ability to spread the ball all over the field will test the Hab defense. In a game in which many play-makers exist on offense, it may be decided by which defense creates a turnover or two. VERDICT: FAN VOTE

Lumpkin County vs Banks County

The Inidans (0-2) host Banks (0-3). So unlike the game above, these two teams are both playing with a combined zero wins. That will change in this one. Lumpkin has to have amnesia after the game at Towns County in which they fell into a DEEP hole within minutes. The Indians played better in the second half. Banks County fell by one to East Jackson, but a handful of guys played really well. VERDICT: BANKS

#2 Jefferson vs Mountain View

After seeing Jefferson grind out a win over Rabun, we are convinced no one on their remaining schedule will beat them. Simple as that. VERDICT: JEFFERSON

#5 Commerce vs Elbert County

Commerce (2-1) had a tough loss at #1 Athens Academy. That eases up this week against Elbert, but the Blue Devils have some ballers. It won’t be easy, but if the Tigers can work the option the way they normally do, they won’t be beat. VERDICT: COMMERCE

Stephens County vs Madison County

Stephens (2-1) is off to a great start. Madison County won’t be an easy opponent, but the emergence of several defensive players, and the progress of the offense with Ben Stowe under center gives us reason to think at The Reservation, this one goes to Stephens. VERDICT: STEPHENS

Towns County vs Mt. Zion

What a big surprise! Towns County (2-1) goes from not winning in a game since 2018 to winning back-to-back games for the first time since 2016. Next up is Mt. Zion. Could the Indians’ newfound offense make it three in a row? VERDICT: TOWNS

#1 Rabun County @ #9 Bremen

Most important, the Wildcats (2-1) are healthy and got some ideas on the Jefferson loss on what to work on. If you’re going to feel sorry for someone, feel sorry for Bremen, who isn’t a bad team by any means. Rabun is certainly still Rabun. Bank on it. VERDICT: RABUN

Union County @ George Walton Academy (CANCELED)

The Panthers (1-2) have canceled their game with GWA, as of Tuesday morning. For the record, we were going Union on this one… VERDICT: UNION

Predicted winners are in bold

West Hall vs Chestatee
East Hall vs Johnson
Gainesville vs Discovery
Denmark vs #8 Lanier
#3 Buford vs Clarke Central
Cherokee Bluff @ Georgia Military College
Lakeview @ Walker
