#1 Rabun County 38, #2 Prince Avenue Christian 31
A game that had it all…you really just have to watch to see. The whole country was tuned in on ESPNU for this thriller that saw Gunner Stockton record five total TD.
#7 Commerce 32, Union County 14
Union drew first blood in the first on a scoop-n-score for Elijah Helton. Freshman phenom Sammy Brown was back at it for Commerce. He had a 70-yard TD to pull within 7-6 heading into the second. Dreylan Martin for the Tigers got in the end zone for the 12-7 lead. Logan Helcher connected with Carson Walker for a 20-yd TD to get Union within 18-14 later. In the second, Brown then had a 72-yd TD catch to go up 25-14 into the break. Tyelon Brock found pay dirt to push it to 32-14, which proved to be the final.
#9 White County 50, #6 Hart County 47
Midway through the first, J Ben Haynes found Cooper Turner for an opening score. It was wild from there on out. After Hart tied it up before the second, Haynes had an 8-yd TD run to regain the lead in the second. It went back and forth, tied at 14, 21, and at 28 after a Haynes to Darius Canon TD. Hart began to pull away, and went up 41-28 with 10 minutes to go in the game. Haynes had another rushing scored to pull within 7, and then the Warriors went up 42-41 minutes later. Hart responded with a TD almost immediately to push it back to 47-42. Haynes had one more in him, as White County scored with 31 seconds to go for the thrilling 50-47 win.
#2 Jefferson 61, Central Gwinnett 7
It was ugly. 61-7 Jefferson, who led 41-7 at the half. The Dragons had 526 yards on the ground. Malaki Starks had 3 TD for Jefferson.
#7 Flowery Branch 45, Dawson County 42
Flowery Branch narrowly defeated Dawson County 45-42. Jaizen Ellingham was dynamite for the Falcons, scoring 4 TD. Dawson County scored late and tried an onside kick to no avail.
Stephens County 34, North Hall 0
The Indians won their home opener easily, stopping North Hall’s option attack. Everything seemed to click well for Stephens County.
Towns County 28, Bethlehem Christian 14
The Indians got their first win since 2018, as Kyle Oakes rushed for 4 TD.
Habersham Central 56, Apalachee 35
The Raiders blasted Apalachee, as Jackson Clouatre set the all-time single-game rushing record for Habersham Central with over 300 yards. The Raiders were up 28-14 at the break and doubled their score in the second half.
Franklin County 35, Banks County 6
Franklin cruised to a 35-6 win over Banks County.
