Crystal Ball: Week 2 Predictions

Week One saw us go just 9-5 in our predictions. That’s 64%…not good. We’re bound to be better as the season rolls on and we get a clearer view of many teams. Here are the Week Two predictions.

DISCLAIMER: We dissect the numbers, check against other projections, utilize the brain and not the heart. If we pick against any of our beloved 11 programs, take it as a diss if you want, or use it as motivation. We obviously would love to see all 11 programs win every single game, so we’ll celebrate even if we’re wrong if it means our locals walk off the field as winners.

THE LOCALS

#1 Rabun County vs #2 Prince Avenue Christian

The Wildcats take on Prince Ave in a game that is featured on ESPN. This is huge. The biggest thing for Rabun is to walk off the field healthy and a better view of some areas they need to address. It will be so fun to see Brock Vandegriff, the #1 QB in the Class of 2021, and Gunner Stockton, the #1 QB in the Class of 2022, go at it. This will be a LONG night and very tough game. VERDICT: RABUN

#7 Commerce vs Union County

The Tigers had a great showing last week, and are taking on a Union team that lost arguably their best player in Week One with a devastating injury. VERDICT: COMMERCE

#2 Jefferson vs Central Gwinnett

The Dragons finally open the season after a bye week to open up. Central Gwinnett is no slouch, but Jefferson should be fine in this one. VERDICT: JEFFERSON

Dawson County vs #7 Flowery Branch

Dawson returns home after a big blow last week. Flowery Branch is also coming off a tough loss that moved them from #4 to #7 in the state poll. This should be a very tough game. VERDICT: FLOWERY BRANCH

Stephens County vs North Hall

The Indians are looking to grow from Week One’s loss at White County. The problem may be on defense, where Stephens County will have its hands full with North Hall’s Wing-T. VERDICT: NORTH HALL

Towns County vs Bethlehem Christian

Towns County almost won their first game since 2018, but fell 10-7. The first four games this year are at home. Could this be the week? VERDICT: TOWNS COUNTY

Habersham Central @ Apalachee

Hab Central played great in all facets of the game last week against a tough Madison County team. Apalachee should prove to be a bit easier, but the Raiders need to keep the pedal to the metal. VERDICT: HABERSHAM CENTRAL

#9 White County @ #6 Hart County

The Warriors were exceptional last week against Stephens. It couldn’t have gone better. Hart County is a step up in terms of opponent, though. The team is solid in just about every area. Being on the road will be difficult, but we think White County is ready for this. VERDICT: WHITE COUNTY

Banks County @ Franklin County

The Leopards are fresh off a loss to Commerce, while Franklin is riding high following a win over Lumpkin. This one could be a toss-up, but being at home might make the difference. VERDICT: FRANKLIN COUNTY

THE OTHERS

Predicted winners are in bold

Chestatee vs Cherokee Bluff
West Hall vs East Hall
#1 Buford @ North Cobb
Denmark @ #4 Allatoona
Lakeview @ #8 Darlington
