SEPTEMBER Volleyball Power Rankings

Ok…first off, this isn’t going to be perfect. In head-to-head matchups, so many of our local teams have beat some who beat others, and lost some to those who beat others, and everything in between. Confused? You’re not alone. Here’s our best snapshot of the local volleyball scene for September.

#1 JEFFERSON
RECORD: 8-4 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #1
The #3-ranked Lady Dragons are now 8-4 overall, and despite dropping a thriller to Habersham, a win over Tallulah Falls in three sets and the full body of work has JHS here, where they hold down the top spot.
#2 WHITE COUNTY
RECORD: 9-1 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #2
The Lady Warriors, ranked #7 in the state, continue their incredible season. There’s really no denying White Co belonging here, falling only to Habersham Central, but beating Rabun, Stephens twice, Tallulah Falls twice, and Union once among the other wins.
#3 LUMPKIN COUNTY
RECORD: 12-1 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #3
The Lady Indians are still on fire, beating the likes of Rabun (three times), Habersham, and Tallulah Falls. It should be electric when they face White County.

#4 HABERSHAM CENTRAL
RECORD: 5-4 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #5
Habersham is getting better as the season moves on. An early season loss to TFS is really negated with a decisive win over Jefferson.
#5 TALLULAH FALLS
RECORD: 3-10 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #4
Tallulah Falls School does not have the record it would like, but it’s been a long, tough non-area slate so far. Despite beating Habersham, they’ve lost to White County (twice), Lumpkin, and Jefferson.

#6 DAWSON COUNTY
RECORD: 1-8 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #6
Dawson has yet to really get to play with their full group, so while the record is not what they’d like, it will surely improve.
#7 RABUN COUNTY
RECORD: 1-7 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #7
Rabun is 1-7 on the season, falling three times to Lumpkin and once to White.
#8 UNION COUNTY
RECORD: 2-4 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #8
Union is starting to show some good signs after a slow start. A big win recently came over Stephens, but they’ve lost to Dawson and White.
#9 STEPHENS COUNTY
RECORD: 1-10 (1-1)
LAST RANKING: #9
The Lady Indians are now 1-10 overall, having dropped matches to Habersham, Union, and twice to White.
#10 BANKS COUNTY
RECORD: 1-4 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #10
Banks County beat Burke County on August 18, winning its first ever match and first ever sets in the process.
#11 COMMERCE
RECORD: 0-7 (0-0)
LAST RANKING: #11
STATE RANKING: N/A
Commerce looks for its first set win in program history, which likely will come some point soon.
