Commerce Freshman Tolbert ranked #16 overall for 2024
Commerce soccer is on the upswing. After an inaugural season in 2018 that saw the Lady Tigers go 2-9-2 overall, the 2019, even though shortened drastically, was leaps and bounds better.
Commerce went 8-1, including a 3-0 mark in region contests, earning a #1 state ranking among Class 1A Public schools. The future is brighter than ever, especially with the latest news around rising freshman Ivy Tolbert.
The midfielder was recently named the #16 overall prospect and the #9 midfielder prospect in the South Atlantic U.S. Region among the class of 2024.
Tolbert is the leading scorer in Commerce Middle School history with 95 goals. Now-teammate and sophomore Chloe Diaz, who scored more than 30 goals last season at the varsity level, is second on the MS list with 51.
Tolbert scored 37 goals as a seventh grader, and last season as an eighth grader scored 8 in a single game against Banks County. Her middle school teams were unbeaten over the past three seasons, going a combined 30-0. She averaged more than five goals per game as an eighth grader in 2019 before the abrupt halt to the season.
She is no stranger to the accolades that surround her, as she plays club soccer for GSA ECNL 05 team in Atlanta, and has played club soccer since the age of five, including each of the past five seasons for ECNL. She’s also played in national college showcases in Phoenix, AZ, Houston, TX, Greer, SC, and Orlando, FL, and played in the ECNL National Championships in San Diego, CA with GSA.
Despite only being a freshman starting this week, she already has three schools in her top choices, which includes the University of Georgia, University of Florida, and Auburn University. She is already 5’7 and 130 lbs with a strong leg, aggressive mindset, and is fast and agile on the field.
Tolbert also excels in the classroom, and is a Duke Tip Scholar and currently ranked atop her class.
