Volleyball Preview 2020: White County

White County was one of a number of programs locally that reached the Elite 8 for the first time. The program is still young, but this is a very special accomplishment that will have ripple effects that go deep into the future of the program.

Head Coach: Shannon Smith, 3rd Season
2019 Record: 20-14; State Elite 8; Region 3rd; #8 State Ranking
White County tied a program record with 20 wins (2018 and 2019), earned its first-ever state ranking, and in its second playoff trip ever, got to the Elite 8.
Personnel
Key Departures: Hope Thomas
Key Returning Players: Jenna Ash, Dasha Cannon
The Lady Warriors will rely a lot on Jenna Ash and Dasha Cannon as the senior leaders on this team. They’ll miss Hope Thomas and the other five seniors from last year’s group. This team will be young and inexperienced in some areas, but still have that great, talented leadership with Ash and Cannon.
Strengths & Areas of Focus
Strengths: Setter and outside hitter are areas of strength.
Focusing On: Who’s getting the kills? Thomas averaged eight per game last season. That’s a void that has to be picked up from elsewhere.
