Volleyball Preview 2020: Habersham Central

Lindsay Herrin turns the page from one of the best senior classes to ever come through Habersham Central in volleyball. That doesn’t mean the wins have to stop coming…it may just look a little different.
“The expectations here at Habersham Central for volleyball are always, and will always be, high,” says Herrin. “Regardless of having half of our 2020 team have no varsity experience, we expect them to be successful and improve on a daily basis. Communication is key and accountability is imperative. We plan on another successful season and are looking forward to proving a lot of people wrong!”

Head Coach: Lindsay Herrin, 10th Season
2019 Record: 30-5; State Round One; Region Runner-Up; #1 State Ranking
An incredible run last year that saw the Lady Raiders earn a #1 state ranking and go unbeaten at home and in non-region play. The ride ended too soon for the seven seniors, but it doesn’t take away from the most historic season in program history.
Personnel
Key Departures: Alexandra Shalikashvili, Sydney Brookshire, Ansley Hendrix, Haley Rice, Rachel Smith
Key Returning Players: Madeline Koshuta, Maddie Chosewood, Camryn Fricks, Molly Butler, Ansley McAllister
Yes, the seven incredible seniors are gone from last year. But Madeline Koshuta is a huge piece returning, and there are others with great experience are back to try and replicate what we saw last season.
Strengths & Areas of Focus
Strengths: Well-rounded team with girls that can successfully play multiple positions, hard working, good volleyball senses, and competitive spirit
Focusing On: Rebuilding after losing more than half of last season’s team, teaching new varsity members offensive schemes, and getting them comfortable in their new roles
