BLITZ Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year nominees

There are some caveats here. First off, most of these programs only got one meet in. In fact, a good amount got NOTHING in. So the options were, forego an Athlete of the Year for 2020, or go based off of returning stars or the standouts coming into the season. We opted to still recognize these athletes. In this unprecedented time, we will still award an Athlete of the Year. Few coaches nominated individuals. To fill out the list, we took last year’s standouts that were returning and added them in the mix.

WHAT’S NEXT? We’ll take our nominee group down to a finalist pool.

NEW FOR 2020: BLITZ will pick a finalist group, and then have another group for the “FAN VOTE: ONE LAST FINALIST” to be included for consideration for Athlete of the Year. Be on the lookout for that.

  • Hey,I did want to throw in that Shan Segars is also the school record holder at CHS with Long Jump, with 23’1. He also placed in the 100m this year (with the 3 meets they did have). He has committed to Kennesaw State University for the Fall.

Thanks for still having this. It’s hard when this was supposed to be ‘his year’ to have a great last track season, and what we hoped would be back to back state championships. Joni Powell

  • Oh and he is also ranked 4th in LJ in the entire state (all classes), and 46th nationally (Milesplit is source).
