Jefferson lead slips away as Dragons fall to Pace in title game

The Dragons (22-8) came in as the heavy underdog against Pace Academy, but just about pulled off a state championship. However, Jefferson fell 48-35 despite leading early in the fourth quarter. Pace Academy stormed back late and held JHS to just 7 points in the final quarter.

The Dragons raced out to a 9-0 lead in the first, and stretched that to 13-3 after one. Pace Academy started out cold, just 1-for-11 from the floor. Pace started a big 8-0 run in the second to bite into the deficit, but a huge 3-pointer by Spencer Darby stopped the bleeding. The defense was phenomenal, as the halftime score was only 20-13.

Pace kept within a single point during the third quarter, and took its first lead on a 4-point play in the final minute of the third. They led 29-28 going into the final quarter of play.
