Tallulah Falls cruises past Towns in region showdown [VIDEO]


Tallulah Falls got out to a quick start, and led from the jump in a 62-29 convincing win over visiting Towns County on Tuesday night. The Lady Indians of TFS (14-6; 6-2 in 8-A) won for the 5 time in the last 6 games, and went off on a blistering 18-3 run to open the contest.

Denika Lightbourne, a freshman phenom, dropped 15 of her game-high 17 points in the first half, while fellow freshman teammate Veronaye Charlton had 15.

Tallulah Falls led Towns County (8-14; 3-5) 22-7 after one quarter, and 43-12 at the break. The third quarter saw Towns’ Vanessa Floyd help keep pace with TFS. She scored 10 of her team-high 14 in the third, as both teams scored 15 in the quarter.

Tallulah picked up the tempo in the fourth, outscoring Towns 19-2 despite a 6-minute clock after going up by 30. When the final horn sounded, it was Tallulah Falls by 33.
Tallulah Falls was led by Lightbourne (17 points), Charlton (15 pts), Katy Corbett (9 pts), Lillie Free (9 pts), and five others who tallied points.

Towns County was paced by Floyd’s 14, followed by Sarah Shook’s 6 points. Four other Lady Indians tallied points.
