Game of the Week Preview: Rabun vs Toombs

The BLITZ Game of the Week takes us back to Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium in Tiger.
RABUN COUNTY
The Wildcats rolled past BEST Academy, 38-0 in complete domination. The #1-ranked Wildcats will look for the offense, led by usual suspects Gunner Stockton, Braxton Hicks, Sam Adams, Sutton Jones, and Cory Keller, not to mention a fantastic O-line, to show Toombs County something they’ve never seen before. On the flip side, the defense is coming off its second shutout of the season, and third-ever playoff shutout (all in last two seasons).

TOOMBS COUNTY
Toombs County has had a solid run in 2019, and that culminated with a thrilling 37-34 first round win over Hephzibah. The Bulldogs have faced 3 state-ranked programs this season, with Rabun being now the fourth. In those 3 games, Toombs is 2-1, showing they are not fazed by preceding reputations. This includes a 31-0 win over Jefferson Davis, and a 31-20 win over Swainsboro to in back-to-back games to close the regular season. The defense is stout, pitching 5 shutouts in 2019. The offense scores around 30 per game, with the defense holding opponents to under 12 on average. However, Toombs has not seen a team like Rabun on either side of the ball.

OUR PREDICTION
Hopefully this team shows up on time, after last week when BEST Academy was an hour late, forcing an 8:40 kickoff. This time, Toombs will have a deeper roster, more talent, and better coaching. Still, despite holding close for a few blinks, the Wildcats will wear down the Bulldogs. OUR PICK: RABUN COUNTY
DO WE BRING LUCK?
We’ve seen Rabun go 29-8 since 2013, including winners of 9 of the past 10 games we’ve seen. So the answer is yes, although they don’t need us there to grab wins. They do that all on their own.
