White, Jefferson, Dawson, Union all advance to Sweet 16; Rabun to Elite 8


Eight teams opened state tournament play on Saturday from around our area, and four moved on to the Sweet 16 – Dawson, White, Union, and Jefferson. Rabun County played a pair of matches and won both, advancing to the quarterfinals. For Habersham, Lumpkin, and Tallulah Falls, losses brought a close to their season.

CLASS 6A
HABERSHAM CENTRAL
The Lady Raiders (30-5) fell 3-0 at #2-seed Allatoona, thus ending Habersham’s incredible season.

CLASS 4A
WHITE COUNTY
The Lady Warriors (19-13) made it to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history with a 3-1 win on the road at #2-seed Cartersville.

CLASS 3A
DAWSON COUNTY
The Lady Tigers (25-23) beat Haralson County 3-0 in quick fashion on Saturday, advancing to the Sweet 16!
JEFFERSON
The Lady Dragons (32-5) are back in the second round after a perfect 3-0 win over #4 Lakeview-FO.
LUMPKIN COUNTY
The Lady Indians (22-21) fell to powerhouse Calhoun on the road, 3-0 to end their season.

CLASS 2A
RABUN COUNTY
Rabun’s (16-21) won its first round 3-1 over Armuchee, and again 3-0 over Callaway to advance to the state quarterfinals.
UNION COUNTY
The 8-AA runner-up Lady Panthers (14-19) had no problems putting away visiting Model on Saturday, winning 3-0 to advance to their first-ever Sweet 16.

1A Private
TALLULAH FALLS
The Lady Indians (21-19) fell 3-0 against North Cobb Christian, ending their season.
