Stephens County’s Kelton Cade has been named the Defensive Player of the Month, and remarkably did so as the Indians had two bye weeks in a row during the time frame. Cade won the Fan Vote, while Dawson’s Riley Herndon was also named by BLITZ as Co-Defensive Player of the Month.
In the monthly poll, players from around our coverage area were considered based on one nominee per team who we felt put up solid defensive statistics. BLITZ then opens a public poll to determine the Player of the Month, and Cade captured 13,027 votes, fending off guys like Herndon (11,125), Jefferson’s Rem Maxwell (7.8K), Habersham’s Arian Curry (5.5K), Union’s Clayton Lester (2.7K), and many others. A total of 42,153 votes were logged.
This version of Player of the Month covers Weeks 5-8 of the season, leaving one final regular season winner to be named following Week 12. Week 1-4 saw White County’s Nix Burkett earn the honors.
