Crystal Ball: Week 6 BLITZ Predictions

All hands on deck! Every. Single. Team. Plays tonight among our locals. That’s the first time this season, and won’t happen again until Week 10 and 11 when both weeks will be jam packed. At 10-2 last week on our picks, we shot 83% and are at 82% this season in all games.

DISCLAIMER: We dissect the numbers, check against other projections, utilize the brain and not the heart. If we pick against any of our beloved 11 programs, take it as a diss if you want, or use it as motivation. We obviously would love to see all 11 programs win every single game, so we’ll celebrate even if we’re wrong if it means our locals walk away as winners.

THE LOCALS

Lumpkin County vs #10 Dawson County

The Indians host the Tigers in what is a long-standing rivalry and fairly even in 41 all-time meetings (20-19-2 in favor of Dawson). Judging from what we’ve seen this season though, Lumpkin will have its hands full with Shawn Thomas and company, who are looking for a 5th straight win over the Indians. WE PICK DAWSON

#4 Commerce vs Madison County

Commerce welcomes Madison County into town. The Tigers rotate guys in and out and make it hard to stop any one person. Madison County might provide more test than last week’s Providence Christian, but WE PICK COMMERCE.

#8 Jefferson @ East Jackson

Jefferson takes its #8 ranking to East Jackson, who is looking to win more than 3 games in a season for just the second time ever (est. 2007). Last year this was a 70-0 win for the Dragons, who have shut out the Eagles in each of the past 3 meetings. We don’t think it’ll be quite that bad this time, but WE PICK JEFFERSON.

#2 Rabun County @ Monticello

The #2 Cats rolled past Putnam last week. Monticello might be about the same. WE PICK RABUN.

#10 Union County @ Putnam County

Union got an historic night from Pierson Allison (490 pass yds, 4 TD). If he stays in the whole game again, he could have another 400-yard passing game at Putnam. WE PICK UNION.

Towns County @ #1 Athens Academy

Athens Academy is too excellent of a team to go against here. WE PICK ATHENS ACADEMY.

Stephens County @ Cedar Shoals

The Indians have one final tune-up when going to the “Jungle” as they call it at Cedar Shoals. This is also the last game for them until Week 9, as they scheduled back-to-back bye weeks prior to opening region play on October 18. WE PICK STEPHENS.

White County @ #1 Marist

We love our Warriors, but what a daunting task this always is…Although White County won’t go quietly, WE PICK MARIST.

Habersham Central @ Franklin County

The Raiders are riding the high of a win over rivals Stephens County for the first time in 23 years…we’ve said that enough, but it IS a big deal. This matchup looks familiar, right? That’s because it was supposed to happen a couple of weeks ago, but after the teams were in uniform and warming up, lightning delayed and ultimately postponed it. In a rare coincidence, the teams shared a common bye week here in Week 6, so here we are. WE PICK HABERSHAM.

Banks County @ Oglethorpe

The Leopards need a win badly each and every week. 8-AA is loaded with Rabun, Union, and Elbert seemingly always 1-3. Banks got off to a great region start with the win over Social Circle, but the going will be tougher at Oglethorpe. WE PICK BANKS.

THE OTHERS

#8 Denmark vs Chestatee
West Hall vs #3 Blessed Trinity
East Hall vs #3 GAC
