Banks, Lumpkin teams advance to state. Habersham & Rabun girls, White Co boys too
Banks County and Lumpkin County saw both of their tennis teams punch a ticket to the state playoffs this week, while Habersham Central’s girls and White County’s boys also announced their team earned a spot in postseason play.
Banks County’s girls team, at 14-2 overall on the season, took the region championship, earning the #1-seed out of 8-AA. The Leopards meanwhile will also get a state playoff home match after finishing as the runner-up in the region tournament.
For the Banks boys, it marks six years in a row advancing, while the girls make it two straight and five times in the last six years.
For Lumpkin County, the Lady Indians are back in the tournament for the fifth straight season, while the boys make it three in a row and four times in the past eight seasons.
The White County boys punch a ticket for the first time since 2014, and the Habersham girls for the first time in at least a decade.
Rabun’s girls advanced for the fifth straight season, taking the final spot out of region 8-AA.
