Each week throughout the school year, we recognize the teams who we feel stood out the most. Teams of the Week are presented by Cofield Outdoors!

FOOTBALL – UNION COUNTY PANTHERS

The Panthers absolutely rocked Hayesville (NC) in the season-opening scrimmage. The offense tore into the Yellowjackets by a final of 44-0 in the varsity portion (first half), with the final going as 58-7.

SOFTBALL – RABUN COUNTY LADY WILDCATS & JEFFERSON LADY DRAGONS

The Lady Wildcats went 2-0 to start the season, and both wins saw the offense put up 15 runs in each contest. First came a dogfight, a 15-14 win over East Jackson. That was followed by a cruiser over Cedar Shoals, 15-2. River Evans, Jessa Gipson, and Maddie Scott all tallied four RBI apiece.

Meanwhile, the Lady Dragons of Jefferson are 5-0 to start out RED HOT! Jenna Rapp already has five homers, and J-Town has HIGH hopes of a possible state championship. They’ve outscored opponents 45-7, and beat Lanier, Mountain View, South Forsyth, and Forsyth Central.

VOLLEYBALL – BANKS COUNTY LADY LEOPARDS

Banks County rolled out to a 4-0 start on the season. That included wins over Winder-Barrow, Tallulah Falls (defending State RU), Fannin County, and Elbert County. The Lady Leopards are on fire right now, going 8-1 in overall sets.
