Lumpkin’s Parker resigns as head basketball coach

Lumpkin County boys basketball has been building up a solid foundation the past 3 seasons under coach Michael Parker. On March 3, Parker announced his resignation from the head coaching post for the Indians.

“I want to thank Dr. Brown and Mr. Kirk for the opportunity to lead the Lumpkin Basketball program the last 3 years,” Parker told BLITZ. “After conversations with administration and my family, I have made the decision to resign as the head basketball coach at Lumpkin County High School. I love my team and wouldn’t trade these past 3 years for anything. As I told the team yesterday, before a nice house is built, you have to lay the foundation. These guys have built a strong foundation and I believe the best days are ahead for Lumpkin Boys Basketball. I have no doubt that there are bright days ahead and am looking forward to watching them have great success in the future.”

Parker guided the Indians to 22 wins over the past 3 seasons, and has developed a number of standout players such as All-Region selections this year Cal Faulkner and Hunter Cooper.
