Indians throttle West Hall in final tune-up for playoff run [VIDEO]

The Indians put up north of 50 in a 55-7 thrashing of West Hall on senior night at the Burial Grounds. The win for Lumpkin, which tied the single-season win record, coupled with a Pickens win over Wesleyan, guaranteed the #2 seed to the Indians, which comes with a first round home playoff game.

Mason Sullens had a 2-yd TD midway through the first, and Jay Grizzle’s interception set up Cooper Scott for a 2-yd TD of his own. That lifted Lumpkin (8-2) to a 14-0 lead. West Hall (1-9) pulled off a flea flicker play when QB Brett Sturm handed to Solomond Carter who flipped on the end around to Andrew Malin. Malin threw a 33-yd TD pass to Ethan Clifford to get the Spartans within 14-7 early in the second.

The Indians took awhile to get going after that, but just before the half scored TDs on a Sullens 5-yd run up the middle and a Scott screen pass to Cal Faulkner, who went 37 yards for the 28-7 lead just before the half.

Lumpkin got another TD late in the third on another Scott-to-Faulkner passing play from 16 ticks out. A Tavion Lawrence pick six kept the board busy, and the fourth included a Gerald Walker long TD run as the Indians secured the 55-7 victory.
