For the second season in a row, and third time in 4 years, Chloe Smith earns BLITZ Player of the Year honors! This was her best season yet, as she polished off her career in style!

Smith was as dominant as ever as a senior, losing only once to log a 94% win percentage and a 16-1 overall record. She carried a 52-8 career W-L record.

Smith was nearly anonymous as the 1st-place winner. Only Madison Rogers’ 3 1st-place votes prevented that.

Voting included our 13-person panel made up of sports reporters, writers, video producers, former coaches, players, GHSA officials, and sports experts. The voting is Heisman-style, with the following points system:
1st place votes: 5 pts; 2nd: 3 pts; 3rd: 2 pts; 4th: 1 pts; 5th-6th: 0.5 pts

Maybe we should just name the award after Smith. She is the first player ever to win the award 3 times. She won it back-to-back as a junior and senior and won as a freshman as well.

WHO WILL WIN IT NEXT YEAR?

With Smith moving on, the field opens up a bit. Of the finalists from this year’s pool, Evette Corwin (Tallulah), Kamden Cotton (Commerce), and Cady Geddings (Lumpkin) will all be back as seniors. Those 3 are obvious front-runners at this point in time.
