Boys Soccer Power Rankings – March
The 2021 season has a small sample size, but enough that helps give a little insight as to where each of our 12 local programs sit. Here are the latest Power Rankings!
#1 HABERSHAM CENTRAL
PREVIOUS: Ric Wallace
RECORD: 4-3 (2-2 in 8-AAAAAA)
Yes, the Raiders don’t have the most appealing W-L mark, but until a local program can prove they are better, this remains our top team. Jefferson and Habersham played to a draw in a season-opening scrimmage, though that doesn’t mean much. Habersham has outscored opposition 14-10 so far.
RECORD: 4-1 (1-0 in 8-AAAA)
The Dragons, ranked #7 in Class 4A, are off to a great start. A win over White County was a great litmus test, although the guys would like more offense with only 7 goals scored so far.
#3 WHITE COUNTY
RECORD: 4-2 (1-0 in 7-AAA)
The Warriors are looking really good early on, securing a win over Stephens and also narrowly upsetting Jefferson in a 1-0 final. These guys are good, and have a 22-7 goal differential.
#4 TOWNS COUNTY
RECORD: 1-0 (1-0 in 8-A Public)
The Indians, ranked #5 in the state, are off to a great start in a 9-0 win. First of many this season!
#5 UNION COUNTY
RECORD: 1-0 (0-0 in 8-AA)
The Panthers won 5-0 in their first game, a win over Lumpkin.
#6 TALLULAH FALLS
RECORD: 1-1 (0-1 in 8-A Private)
The Indians did get a win over Stephens before a tough loss to Athens Academy.
#7 RABUN COUNTY
RECORD: 1-1-1 (0-0 in 8-AA)
The Wildcats beat Stephens and then tied with them another time. They have 5 goals for and 5 against so far.
#8 BANKS COUNTY
RECORD: 1-3 (1-0 in 8-AA)
The record isn’t pretty, nor the sole goal scored for the team, but they do have a region win.
#9 LUMPKIN COUNTY
RECORD: 0-4 (0-0 in 7-AAA)
The Indians are seeking for any kind of traction they can get right now.
#10 DAWSON COUNTY
RECORD: 0-6 (0-0 in 7-AAA)
The Tigers are the same as Lumpkin…needing something to get them going, and have been outscored 33-4 so far.
#11 STEPHENS COUNTY
2020 RECORD: 0-4-1 (0-0 in 8-AAA)
The Indians are seeing some improvement with a draw, but otherwise are outscored 28-7 so far this season.
RECORD: 0-1 (0-0 in 8-A Public)
The Tigers really don’t have much of a sample size to give us any real idea just yet.
