Corbett, Davenport Splash Way To Player of the Week Awards

The Player of the Week Fan Vote for Girls Basketball Player of the Week tallied 43,490 votes, with Tallulah Falls’ Katy Corbett tallying 22,663 to win the Fan Vote. BLITZ then picked Lumpkin’s Isabel Davenport as Co-POW.

It was an unbelievable single game that made Katy Corbett stand out this week. The guard used her senior night to show out, hitting on 10-of-15 from beyond the arc to not only crush her previous school record of 6 in one game, but come close to the state record of 13. Her 10 3-pointers helped her to 32 points, a career high, and for the week saw her average 21 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists, and 1 block per game over a 2-game stretch. This is Corbett’s first basketball POW award this season but 4th overall this year (3 in volleyball) and 5th all time. Corbett and the Lady Indians of Tallulah Falls recently nailed down the regular season region championship in 8-A Private.

Lumpkin’s Isabel Davenport earns her first POW award of the season for basketball (2nd overall, one in volleyball) and fourth of her career with an outstanding showing last week. Like Corbett, Davenport put on a clinic on senior night against West Hall. The guard dropped in 7 3-pointers and had 27 points in the win, setting herself up as the school’s second-leading scorer all time in the process. Over 3 games last week, she averaged 20.3 points and 6.3 assists, as the #2-ranked Lady Indians are peaking at the right time.
