Game of the Week: Jefferson vs Hapeville Charter

Our Game of the Week sends us to Jefferson for the second round of the playoffs. It pits #1-ranked Jefferson and #9-ranked Hapeville Charter. A marquee top-10 matchup in the second round of the playoffs. This game also features multiple Division-I players roaming the gridiron.

JEFFERSON

Jefferson is the heavy favorite not just in this game, but for the 2020 State Championship. The Dragons, ranked #1 in the state, have the third-best defense in the state, and the highest-scoring offense in the state as well. Malaki Starks, Jordan Perry, and Kam Robinson have been the big-time playmakers on the offensive side, along with many others who have done very well. The defense is crippling to any opposing force.

HAPEVILLE CHARTER

The Hornets are one of the top defenses in the state as well, led by LSU commit and 5-star LB Zavier Carter and Memphis commit LB Nick Hunter. In the past 4 years, Hapeville has gone 9-2 in the playoffs, including winning the 2017 state title against Rabun County in Class 2A. Two of the Hornets 2020 losses were against #1-ranked Marist and #8-ranked Milton, and the other came against a 7A school. Hapeville is hot right now with 5 straight wins.

OUR PREDICTION

The Dragons are lethal on offense, though this might be the toughest defense they’ve seen since Rabun County in Week 3. While the Hornets have a solid defense, they don’t pack much of a punch on offense. For that, Jefferson’s defense will decide this one. That’s not to say Jefferson won’t get points, because they certainly will. OUR PICK: JEFFERSON

DO WE BRING LUCK?

For Jefferson, we’ve captured 10 games, and the Dragons are 9-1 in those.
