Indians Fall To Social Circle In Final Home Game


Chaz Mullis – The Social Circle Redskins (3-6, 1-3 in 8A) bested Towns County in their second-to-last game in the regular season.
Towns’ Oakes brothers put up a valiant effort against the Redskins, but the shocking SC offense was hard to count. Social Circle set the game in motion with an 8-yard TD by KJ Reid, and denied every Indian offensive drive in the 1st quarter.
Towns County found their footing at the start of the 2nd quarter with Jake McTaggart running 52 yards to set the score even at 7-7. Social’s Reid answered back with a 40-yard TD, boosting the Redskins to 14-7.
Towns entered the 2nd half with Garrett Oakes finding a 20-yard TD, bring up the Indians to 13-14. The Redskins’ Amarion Russell answered, besting the previous run with a 28-yard TD.
Oakes hit back by driving into the end zone on the kick return, putting the score at 19-21. Social Circle responded at the end of the 3rd with a 58 yard rush by Eric Taylor, leaving it at 19-28.
Taylor score the final points for the Redskins with a 45-yard TD, putting pressure on the Indians at 19-34. Collin Crowder crammed in a 26-yard TD, with Tyler Oakes finding a two-point conversion, but it wasn’t enough to take down the Redskins who held out at 27-34.
