Week 11 Power Rankings

We’re down to a final week of the regular season. For many teams, it’s a last chance to play the game at all, or to play with their friends. For others, it’s a final tune up for a playoff run. Still, some things are to be decided going into the final week, such as a region title, home playoff berth, or playoff spot in general. Here are the Week 11 Power Rankings.

#1 RABUN COUNTY WILDCATS
LAST RANKING: #1
RECORD: 9-0 (6-0)
WEEK 11: W 49-0 @ Oglethorpe
NEXT: @ #7 Union County
Is Gunner Stockton just getting heated up? He threw for 6 TD (tied 4th in state history) for a second straight week, and third time already in his career. The Cats had a perfect 49-0 win over Oglethorpe, and rested some guys for the Union County region title game next week! This one is HUGE!

#2 JEFFERSON DRAGONS
LAST RANKING: #2
RECORD: 8-1 (6-0)
WEEK 11: W 55-0 vs Jackson County
NEXT: Bye
The Dragons got a chance to rest most of their stars in the second half of an easy 55-0 win over Jackson. With a bye week in Week 12, Jefferson as the region champs, are set to host the playoffs through at least the first two rounds (barring a shocking first round loss).
#3 DAWSON COUNTY TIGERS
LAST RANKING: #3
RECORD: 7-2 (4-1)
WEEK 11: W 52-9 @ Cherokee Bluff
NEXT: @ North Hall
It’s been quite the season for these Tigers. They have looked great the past two weeks, and Zach Holtzclaw is really making leaps and bounds this season. North Hall will be very difficult, and there is a TON on the line here. The winner takes Region Runner-Up honors, and more importantly, a #2-seed for the playoffs. That would mean playing at home in the first round. Dawson needs this one.
#4 UNION COUNTY PANTHERS
LAST RANKING: #4
RECORD: 9-0 (6-0)
WEEK 11: W 41-6 @ Social Circle
NEXT: vs #2 Rabun County
Like Rabun, Jefferson, and Dawson ahead of them, the Panthers also had an easy win in Week 11 and rested guys to prepare for next week. The rivalry needs no extra hype…Union would be seeking a region championship. No matter what though, it will be hosting the first round at home if Rabun wins, or hosting at least twice (barring a loss) with a win over the Wildcats.

#5 COMMERCE TIGERS
LAST RANKING: #5
RECORD: 7-2 (5-1)
WEEK 11: W 52-21 @ Riverside
NEXT: vs TBA (Region Cross-Over)
The Tigers are ready for a region cross-over battle that should give them some good practice for what’s to come at state.

#6 WHITE COUNTY WARRIORS
LAST RANKING: #7
RECORD: 5-4 (2-3)
WEEK 11: W 34-14 @ Chestatee
NEXT: vs Blessed Trinity
The Warriors might be out of the playoff picture in the MOST RIDICULOUS REGION EVER, but this is a really good team! We can’t wait until next year when reclassification might make things better for White County than being lumped in with Blessed Trinity and Marist, and powerhouse Flowery Branch. Yes, we know White County lost to Habersham, but right now the Warriors are trending up, and the Raiders haven’t won since September 27.
#7 HABERSHAM CENTRAL RAIDERS
LAST RANKING: #6
RECORD: 3-6 (0-4)
WEEK 11: L 40-41 vs Winder-Barrow
NEXT: @ Apalachee
See above regarding being below White County. We are aware the Raiders beat the Warriors, but that’s not where these teams are right now. The Raiders suffered an absolute dagger in the loss to Winder, ending any playoff hopes. Still, Habersham can close strong for the seniors and for the guys coming back next year with a win over an extremely beatable Apalachee team.

#8 BANKS COUNTY LEOPARDS
LAST RANKING: #8
RECORD: 3-6 (2-4)
WEEK 11: L 0-28 vs Monticello
NEXT: @ Elbert County
The Leopards have suffered four straight losses after starting out 2-0 in region. That puts them totally out of the playoff picture now, and Elbert at the Granite Bowl will NOT be an easy task.

#9 STEPHENS COUNTY INDIANS
LAST RANKING: #9
RECORD: 1-8 (0-3)
WEEK 11: L 33-35 @ Madison County
NEXT: vs St. Pius X
Don’t let the record fool you…this could be a playoff team. It’s a five-team region, so a win in the finale over St. Pius would get Stephens County in. That sounds bad when you hear the opponent, but St. Pius isn’t what it used to be, at least not this year.

#10 LUMPKIN COUNTY INDIANS
LAST RANKING: #10
RECORD: 1-8 (0-5)
WEEK 11: L 14-35 @ Fannin County
NEXT: @ East Hall
Lumpkin has a real shot to close this season strong, because East Hall is also 1-8. Both teams will look to steal a win that could boost the morale of the program moving forward.
#11 TOWNS COUNTY INDIANS
LAST RANKING: #11
RECORD: 0-9 (0-6)
WEEK 11: L 0-41 vs Lakeview
NEXT: vs TBA (Region Cross-Over)
Towns will look to avoid its first winless season since 2007. The opponent is currently TBD.
