Week 9 Power Rankings

Everyone but Dawson, Habersham Central, and Towns County played in Week 9, producing some big movement near the top in our Power Rankings. However, this is the final bye week for any team until Jefferson (who gets a final bye week in Week 12 prior to the playoffs).

#1 RABUN COUNTY WILDCATS
LAST RANKING: #1
RECORD: 7-0 (4-0)
WEEK 9: W 52-14 @ Elbert County
NEXT: vs Social Circle
The Cats really had no trouble with Elbert at the Granite Bowl. Gunner Stockton threw 3 TD and rushed for one, while Tate Ramey (2 TD), Braxton Hicks (1 TD), and Cory Keller (2 TD) led the onslaught.

#2 JEFFERSON DRAGONS
LAST RANKING: #2
RECORD: 6-1 (4-0)
WEEK 9: W 47-12 vs Morgan County
NEXT: @ Monroe Area
It seemed like the Dragons’ Colby Clark scored 100 touchdowns in the game. In reality he had a hand in 6 of them, including throwing a TD pass. Jefferson has the inside track to the region title.
#3 DAWSON COUNTY TIGERS
LAST RANKING: #5
RECORD: 5-2 (2-1)
WEEK 9: Bye
NEXT: vs Fannin County
Dawson County’s two losses are against then-#5 Denmark and current #3 GAC. There’s a lot to like about these Tigers.
#4 UNION COUNTY PANTHERS
LAST RANKING: #3
RECORD: 7-0 (4-0)
WEEK 9: W 14-7 @ Banks County
NEXT: vs Oglethorpe
It was not the prettiest win, but Union is still here. They have been hampered by injuries, including a devastating blow in losing Kyle Morlock for the year. In the win over Banks, Pierson Allison and Mason McCombs were inactive. Many guys got banged up during the win as well.

#5 COMMERCE TIGERS
LAST RANKING: #4
RECORD: 5-2 (3-1)
WEEK 9: L 7-21 vs #10 Hebron Christian
NEXT: vs Towns County
While not a huge upset, #10 Hebron knocking off #4 Commerce at home was still shocking here. We feel sorry for Towns County, who gets Commerce’s frustration next week.

#6 HABERSHAM CENTRAL RAIDERS
LAST RANKING: #6
RECORD: 3-4 (0-2)
WEEK 9: Bye
NEXT: @ #2 Dacula
Habersham had a chance to heal up and gear up for powerhouse Dacula in Week 10. The Raiders can afford to lose one more, but Winder and Apalachee are must-wins for any playoff hopes to become reality.

#7 WHITE COUNTY WARRIORS
LAST RANKING: #7
RECORD: 4-3 (1-2)
WEEK 9: W 42-0 vs West Hall
NEXT: vs #7 Denmark
It was an awesome performance by J Ben Haynes, who rushed for 3 and passed for 3 TDs as the Warriors grabbed a humongous win in region play.
#8 BANKS COUNTY LEOPARDS
LAST RANKING: #8
RECORD: 3-4 (2-2)
WEEK 9: L 7-14 vs #8 Union County
NEXT: vs Putnam County
The Leopards can hang their hat on their defense, which time and again has shown to be legitimate. Only one other team in the last year and a half can say they held a 50-point offense to under 20 points (Bremen).

#9 STEPHENS COUNTY INDIANS
LAST RANKING: #9
RECORD: 1-6 (0-1)
WEEK 9: L 14-41 @ #8 Oconee County
NEXT: vs North Oconee
North Oconee is on deck. Can the Indians break free of the 6-game losing streak?

#10 LUMPKIN COUNTY INDIANS
LAST RANKING: #10
RECORD: 1-6 (0-3)
WEEK 9: L 6-49 @ #3 GAC
NEXT: vs North Hall
Lumpkin suffered a lopsided loss in Atlanta to #3 GAC.
#11 TOWNS COUNTY INDIANS
LAST RANKING: #11
RECORD: 0-7 (0-4)
WEEK 9: Bye
NEXT: @ #4 Commerce
Towns County got a short respite before a trip to #4 Commerce. The following week at home against Lakeview might be the best chance at a win for the Indians.
