It’s about time for some basketball! We present you with a team-by-team preview to get you up to date on where each school stands heading into the 2026-27 season. Team Previews are presented by My GA Credit Union!

Head Coach: Stephen Stuart (1st Season)
2025-26 Record/Results: 8-19; Region 4th; RND 1

Stephen Stuart takes over the Towns County girls program, marking a new era for the Lady Indians. Despite a sub .500 record last year, they navigated injuries to key players and still made a playoff push, and Ava Thompson emerged as one of the top 3-point shooters in the state.

PERSONNEL & STYLE OF PLAY
# of Returning Starters: 3
Key Players: Ava Thompson (JR), Chloe Sutton (SR), Tinley Berrong (FR)
Key Departures: Scotlyn Fain
Offensive Style: Fast, and get up and down the court as fast as possible

STRENGTHS & CHALLENGES
Strengths: “The team is pretty young and is picking up things fast which is important with this being my first year,” says Stuart. “We are learning to compete.”
Biggest Challenges: “Building a winning culture and getting Towns County girls basketball back to the standard that has been held here for so long.”

EXPECTATIONS
From the Coach: “We want to compete in the region and get better every time we step on the floor. Our goal is to make the State Tournament.”
From BLITZ: Ava Thompson will take the team places for sure. That kind of outside shooting is hard to find, and if some of the veteran and young players alike can play at a higher level than they could before, Towns County will have a chance to play in the postseason. This is overall a young group.
