It’s about time for some basketball! We present you with a team-by-team preview to get you up to date on where each school stands heading into the 2026-27 season. Team Previews are presented by My GA Credit Union!

Head Coach: Alan Rogers (1st Season)
2025-26 Record/Results: 14-13; Region RU; RND 1; #6 Rank

Alan Rogers isn’t fully new to the program – he’s been the girls coach for a couple of years before this at Towns. Still, he’s got his work cut out for him with having to replace almost the entire starting lineup. However, the foundation of a winning culture (2020-21 State Champions) has been in place and will continue to propel the team forward.

PERSONNEL & STYLE OF PLAY

# of Returning Starters: 1

Key Players: Sam Sarafin (JR), Bryce Sosebee (SR), Baylor Rogers (JR), Sawyer Cunningham (JR).

“Baylor and Sawyer have been in the program and are stepping into bigger roles this year, both of whom had big summers and grew a lot! We also have a solid freshmen group who I look to see big things out of as the year moves ahead,” says Rogers.

Key Departures: Jonas Rouse, Dustin Barrett, Mason Pierson, Cruz Kitchens, Tucker Engert (transfer to Rabun Gap)

Offensive Style: Balanced attack

“We want to look for opportunities in transition, but also be disciplined and take care of the ball when opportunities do not present themselves. I think we will be very balanced offensively.”

STRENGTHS & CHALLENGES

Strengths: “This is a very smart and coachable group who play hard for each other every time they hit the floor,” says Rogers. “They are a really fun group that I know is going to show up every day and grind!”

Biggest Challenges: “In losing all the seniors, lack of experience and people feeling new roles in our program could be one our biggest challenges.”

EXPECTATIONS

From the Coach: “I expect this team to grow and get better every game. I think they will represent Towns County very well, and will make a push for the state playoffs again this year!”

From BLITZ: Towns County always seems to find a way into the playoff bracket, so expect this to be the norm. A lot of pressure is going to fall on Sam Sarafin early on. Hopefully one, two, or even more playmakers will emerge quickly to alleviate some of that pressure.
