It’s about time for some basketball! We present you with a team-by-team preview to get you up to date on where each school stands heading into the 2026-27 season. Team Previews are presented by My GA Credit Union!

Head Coach: Steve Shedd (3rd Season)
2025-26 Record/Results: 20-9; Region 3rd; Sweet 16; #3 Rank

In year three under coach Steve Shedd, the Lady Warriors will return the bulk of their talent. As always, you can expect a high-tempo offense and a tenacious defense. White County will not lack experience at all…

PERSONNEL & STYLE OF PLAY
# of Returning Starters: 5
Key Players: Ella Kate Shedd, Anijah Moss, Aslyn Burkett, Kalynn Watkins, Ansleigh Vandiver, Josselyn Burke, Bree Burkett, Naomi Nicely, (several other sophomore players expected to contribute- Bailey Collins, Kinsley Hall, Olivia Latty). WC expects great things from freshman Allie Fowler and Pat Mattox (Habersham Central transfer)
Key Departures: Matelyn Allison, Zara Gosse (transfer to Rabun County)
Offensive Style: Fast transition, sharing the ball, forcing turnovers on defense and scoring off of those turnovers

STRENGTHS & CHALLENGES
Strengths: “Depth; we have a very deep and experienced group,” says coach Shedd. “We played our entire freshman class on varsity last year and this summer, which has helped contribute to our depth this year. Balance; we have the ability to play fast and physical with a great balance of inside/out scoring. Defense; we will always place defense as our primary strength and focus.”
Biggest Challenges: “Staying healthy has been our biggest hurdle the past two years, and we hope that this year we can flip that narrative.”

EXPECTATIONS
From the Coach: “Our goal is to compete in a very challenging non-region schedule and to win Region 6-AAAA. However, as always, we have an incredibly tough region filled with tremendous talent and great coaching across the board. Any team can beat another if you don’t show up ready to play each game.”
From BLITZ: Losing Zara Gosse’s presence in the paint is definitely a hit to the roster, but Ella Kate Shedd and Anijah Moss back for their senior years means there are coaches on the floor. There’s still more than enough physicality on this team, and the young talent will push the veteran players and make the team that much better. This team’s floor feels like a Sweet 16 run, and the ceiling…well, there might not be one.
