Pitch Preview: Stephens County Lady Indians


Stephens County enters 2023 on the heels of a Sweet 16 appearance, which marked back-to-back seasons under Erin Fleming of getting the Lady Indians there. Over her two previous seasons, Fleming has lifted Stephens to a 19-12 overall record, a region runner-up finish, and a pair of second round appearances. 2023 has a lot of promise.

STRENGTHS: “Our team has a very positive and confident attitude about the 2023 season,” adds Fleming. “We are developing a stronger defensive line to better support our offense. Our biggest strength is our mindset: no one will work harder than we do.”

Stephens County has a solid core back for 2023. Though players like Riley McCollum (11 G), Grace Witherspoon, and Abby Burkhart will no doubt be missed, the team returns several playmakers such as Julia Knight (16 G, 4A) and Madison Strickland.
“Stephens County girls soccer is expecting to make it back to the state tournament,” says Fleming. “Our daily goal is to be better than yesterday.”
