Barnes, Hood earn POW honors


The BLITZ Fan Vote for Girls Basketball Player of the Week was Tabitha Barnes (Towns County) after taking 7,416 of the 17,638 total votes. BLITZ then named Lucy Hood (Rabun County) as Co-POW.
TABITHA BARNES – TOWNS COUNTY

Tabitha Barnes becomes the third different Towns County girls player to claim POW honors in as many weeks. The top-10 ranked team is blessed with talent, and the guard Barnes enjoyed a 2-game stretch last week in which she averaged 11.5 points, 3 steals, 2.5 assists, and 2 rebounds per game for the Lady Indians. This is the senior’s second career POW award.

LUCY HOOD – RABUN COUNTY

Rabun County’s Lucy Hood continues to have a dominant season. The junior guard led the Lady Cats in a pair of games last week by averaging 18 points, 6.5 assists, 4.5 steals, and 4 rebounds per contest. She also shot 100% from the charity stripe and 55% from long range. This is Hood’s fifth career POW award (3 basketball, 1 each in cross country and tennis).
