Brown runs wild, Dragons take inside track to region title [VIDEO]

Loganville was handed its first loss when the Dragons gave the Red Devils all the fire they could handle and then some. Jefferson, ranked #6, used a 21-point second quarter to take complete control of the game in a 42-6 blowout win over #3 Loganville. It was the Sammy Brown show, as the junior 5-star recruit scored 6 times as Jefferson now takes the inside track to the Region 8-AAAAA title.

Neither team got anything gonig the first few drives, but on the Dragon’s third possession of the opening quarter, QB Max Aldridge threw a 31-yd TD pass to Brown, who made a sensational diving, over-the-shoulder grab to get Jefferson on the board. That came with 1:51 in the first.

The Dragons opened the second quarter with a TD at the 10:41 mark when Brown dove over the top for a 2-yd TD to push the lead to 14-0. That score was courtesy of a Chase Johnson forced fumble (in which he recovered it as well) on the Red Devils’ prior possession. Jefferson held the previously unbeaten Loganville offense to just six points, as the team came in with a top-10 ranked offense in the state.

Brown was just heating up. He later in the second took a toss from Aldridge, and appeared to run out of room on the home sideline. He reversed course, cut through several defenders, and raced to the opposite sideline and then vertical for the 34-yd TD that made it a 21-0 lead with 6:10 to go in the half.

After Aldridge picked apart the Loganville defense with multiple passes to Zay Minish and also a QB keeper, Brown then put the finishing touches on the final drive of the half with a 16-yd TD up the gut. That set the Dragons up 28-0 going into the locker room.

In the third, Brown scored a 58-yd TD before Loganville finally got on the board with a TD in the fourth. By then, it was a 35-6 game. Brown added one more for good measure with a 98-yd TD after the Dragons defense made a goalline stand on 4 consecutive plays against the Red Devils. Jefferson’s 42-6 win puts the Dragons at 6-2 overall and 4-0 in region play with 2 games remaining. Loganville falls to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in region.
