Midway through the first, the Indians got on the board with a Stowe 10-yd TD pass to Lacy. About two minutes later, taking over on a mishandled punt inside the red zone, Stephens added to it with a 2-yd TD run by Gordon to push it to 14-0. The Warriors found life with the ensuing kickoff, taken 95 yards by Caysen Duvall to cut the deficit in half. However, the Indians responded immediately with another Gordon TD, this time from 3 ticks out for the 21-7 lead.
In the second quarter’s opening seconds, Stephens County netted a safety on a snap over the punter’s head to give the Indians a 23-7 advantage. Gordon once again found the end zone on a 3-yd plunge with 9:20 to go in the second, padding the lead to 30-7. With 5:54 to go in the half, Stowe hit Lacy with a bubble screen, and he blazed down the field for a 50-yd score and the 37-7 lead. Gordon notched a 5-yd TD less than a minute later to put the game away at 44-7.
The Indians weren’t done working, but the Warriors got on the board first in the third quarter when Nix scored on a keeper from 5 yards out. Before the third quarter concluded, Stephens scored again when Stowe hit Lacy for a 33-yd TD, and a safety in the fourth capped the scoring.
The Indians are now 4-1 heading into their first BYE week, and are winners in back-to-back games with their #3 state ranking in tow. The Warriors are now 2-2 overall.
